Computer Music Seminar, Hugh Livingston

Cellist Hugh Livingston performs contemporary music. He has recently moved to the Bay Area, where he is a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University and a Performer-in-Residence at UC Berkeley. He is known for his innovations and creations in the fields of interpretation of the European, American and Asian literature of the past thirty years, as well as improvisation, Asian instrumental traditions, electronic music, and extended cello technique.

Computer Music Seminar, Rodney Waschka

Rodney Waschka, an Associate Professor at North Carolina State University and the Director of A&R for CDCM: Consortium to Distribute Computer Music, will give a Computer Music Departmental seminar on March 29. Waschka is a composer/performer working with algorithmic composition, intermedia pieces, and music for traditional ensembles. Waschka’s works consist of compositions for traditional instruments and often include computers, synthesizer/tape or other media: visuals, theater, poetry.
