Peabody Computer Music Consort presents: “…fused into music…”

See Peabody’s Leith Symington Griswold Hall transformed like never before, with performances of electro-acoustic works featuring Peabody faculty artists, alumni, and special guests from the Conservatory and beyond.

Spectacles include Virtual Reality, Oculus Rift and Leap Motion Controller and other new custom instruments, improvisation, 8.1 surround sound, video, ecological acoustics, and much more.

Prix D’Été Competition Submission Portal and Deadline Extension

The Prix d’Été competition, established by Walter Summer in 1994, encourages Peabody graduate and undergraduate composition students to create music that explores new instrumental, vocal, computer, and multi-media horizons.

The submission process for the Prix d’Été Competition is now open until February 8 at noon.

Winners receive a cash prize and a performance on the Thursday Noon Recital Series concert on Thursday,  April 21.

This year, we will be using online submissions only for the Prix. The submission home page is:

Composers can submit up to two pieces, which have been written during their time at Peabody. This year is a technology mandatory year. Pieces must either be for a chamber ensemble of up to ten players, including a significant technology component, or for fixed media.

Please create a compressed (.zip) folder with an anonymous score and an mp3 recording. Maximum upload size for your zip folder is 64 megabytes.

Multichannel works should be mixed down to two channels.

For fixed media, please include an explanation of your process as a 1 page, anonymous PDF in lieu of a score.

Computer Music will present its annual Thursday Noon recital on May 2. This concert will feature award-winning compositions from this year’s Prix d’Ete competition. Both Computer Music composition students, Jason Allen and Taehi Kim, have won the first and second prize of the seventh annual Prix d’Ete competition. Mr. Allen’s winning composition, “Requiem” for SATB chorus and computer, as well as Ms. Kim’s “Flying” for flute and computer, will both be performed at the Computer Music Thursday Noon recital on May 2, 2002.

Hugh Livingston performs interactive music for cello and computers. Livingston is a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University and a Performer-in-Residence at UC Berkeley. He is known for his innovations and creations in the fields of interpretation of the European, American and Asian literature of the past thirty years, as well as improvisation, Asian instrumental traditions, electronic music, and extended cello technique.
