Notable Musical Elements:
Written after the massive orchestral work Parametric Transmutations, this represents music on the opposite smallest scale. With only two performers and just over three minutes to tell its story, it baffled composer Theofanidis that it could still take the listener on a journey across a great distance. This piece comes from a time period where all Burt's works were nearly mathematically precise transitions from one musical location to another through the parametric variations of independent elements. The work features harmonic and melodic elements that are at times indistinguishable. Rhythmic constructions give the piece a great deal of wit and help to provide memory anchors and points of conjunction between the two performers.
