About Brent
Brent Flinchbaugh, a native of Hanover, Pennsylvania, enjoys a versatile career as orchestral, chamber, and commercial trumpeter as well as an avid teacher and presenter. Recently, Mr. Flinchbaugh completed a Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mr. Flinchbaugh has been principal trumpet of the Peabody Concert Orchestra, Conductor's Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Festival Orchestra. During his tenure at Peabody, Brent has been privileged to play principal trumpet under the accomplished direction of Harlan Parker, Gustav Meier, Markand Thakkar, Martin Isepp, Bobby McFerrin, and Leon Fleisher.
In addition to his duties at Peabody, Mr. Flinchbaugh has performed with the Columbia Orchestra, the Frederick Orchestra, the Greater Baltimore Youth Symphony, the Goucher Symphony, the Lancaster Symphony, and the Young Victorian Theater Company.
Mr. Flinchbaugh has been winner of several awards including the Alice and Leary Taylor Award of Excellence, the Michael Bloomberg and Rosenthal Scholarships, and the fourth ever International Trumpet Guild Young Artist Award.
In addition to orchestral music, Brent performs regularly as a founding member of the Clipper City Brass Quintet, which is made up of students and former students of the Peabody Conservatory. He has also been a member of the Mulberry Brass Quintet, providing community outreach to Baltimore City after-school programs.
Mr. Flinchbaugh has studied trumpet with Edward Hoffman, Langston Fitzgerald, Elisa Koehler, Andrew Balio, and Chris Gekker. Next year Brent will attend the Manhattan School of Music in New York City where he will study with trumpet legend Mark Gould.
