Prix d'ete

Deadline: December 15, 2007

  • Eligibility: Current students or recent alumni
  • Requirements / Instructions:
    • One submission per student
    • Even-numbered years have a technology requirement: the work must make substantial use of new technologies
    • Submit scores to Dr. Boyle
    • Students must arrange for a performance of their work on the last Thursday Noon concert of the year (see the department calendar for the exact date)

Camerata Student Composition Competition

Deadline: January 26, 2007 (by 5pm, Ensemble Office)

  • Eligibility: Current students
  • Requirements / Instructions:
    • One submission per student
    • Submissions which make greater use of the resources of the Camerata are typically encouraged
    • Submit scores to Rich Lauver at the Ensemble Office

    • The winner will be announced one week after the deadline. After the announcement, the winner will have one additional week to produce parts.

Macht Orchestra Composition Competition

Deadline: April 9, 2007

  • Eligibility: Current students
  • Requirements / Instructions:
    • One submission per student
    • Music must make use of the full orchestra
    • Submit scores to the ensemble office (3 copies)
    • Parts must be available for performance the following school year

Virginia Delillo Composition Competition

Deadline: Febuary 13, 2008

  • Eligibility: Current students
  • Requirements / Instructions:
  • Submit scores to the Concert Office
  • Note: This competition is only held every other year (even-numbered years)
  • One submission per student
  • Note that multiple copies of the scores are required
  • Scores must be submitted with a completed form
  • Please see the Concert Office for complete instructions

Previous Winners

  • Previous Prix d' ete winners

  • This competition, established by Walter Summer in 1994, encourages Peabody graduate and undergraduate composition students to create chamber music that explores new instrumental, vocal, computer and multimedia horizons. Focus is on chamber music compositions for ensembles of up to 10 players. In the even years the competition includes a computer technology component.
