Department Recitals

Peabody provides expert guidance and rigorous professional training to young composers in a congenial and collegial atmosphere. Faculty members are distinguished composers whose works are being performed in venues throughout the world.



Please support the department! See the department calendar for upcoming concerts and readings. This year, there will be six department recitals, and all are on Thursdays.

Advance planning is critical to staging a recital in a professional manner. Talk to your musicians early. When you know on which concert you wish to have your piece performed, submit the required information on the website. Also don’t forget to email the GA stating your name and the date you wish to have your piece performed.

Any performance which requires music technology (amplification, speakers, microphones, synthesizers, computers, etc.) should be discussed with Dr. Boyle several weeks in advance of the performance date. The school can support these performances to a limited extent if enough prior notice is given so that arrangements can be made.

Individual Recitals

If you wish to arrange for an individual recital of your music this fall, please speak to your composition studio professor. You will need to register for a recital date and space through Peabody’s registration lottery in mid-September. The Spring semester lottery will be held at the concert office in January. You will need to arrange for your own musicians. Remember also to ask your friends to assist as stagehands and ushers. The Peabody Stage Manager cannot provide assistants for your recital. Publicity is also your responsibility.

Degree Recitals

Schedule your undergraduate degree recital for the fall semester of your senior year. You need to contact the Concert Office to participate in the scheduling lottery.
