Biography
Composer Robert Hamilton (b.1973) is actively engaged in the composition of contemporary electroacoustic musics as well as the development of interactive musical systems
for performance and composition. Mr. Hamilton holds degrees from Stanford University, Dartmouth College,
and the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University with additional studies at
Le Centre de Création Musicale de Iannis Xenakis (CCMIX) and L'Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris with the EAMA. He has been the recipient of the Johns Hopkins Technology
Fellowship, First Prize Winner of the Peabody Prix d'Ete competition, two Peabody Career Development Awards and two ASCAPPlus awards. Recent works include Triages for six
instruments and computer (commissioned for the 2006 newStage:CCRMA Festival), i have four pictures of you sleeping for violin
and computer, maps and legends, a multi-user networked compositional/performance environment built with the Quake III gaming engine, and bioinformatic feedbacks, an
interactive compositional system incorporating performer generated bioinformatic feedback as a probabilistic selector of pre-composed materials for real-time score display with
LilyPond and MusicXML. His compositions and published writings have been presented at the newStage:CCRMA Festival , ICMC 2006 (New Orleans), SEAMUS 2007 (Ames), NIME 2006 (Paris), the CCRMA Concert Series,
ICMC 2005 (Barcelona), Sound in Media Workshop (Copenhagen), the SPARK Festival, 3rd Practice Festival, ISMIR 2003, the Dartmouth Electric Rainbow Coalition Festival and
the Smithsonian Institute.
